Nice to see the site running again. Many thanks.
Just one point:
There is a funny whirring sound in Portsmouth cemetery,
near to the grave of Sam Doberman. If you were to correct Photo Gallery
Page 7, and replace the "Sam Solomon" by "Sam Doberman", the latter may
rest more easily in peace!
[Ed note: Thanks for spotting another of our
(rather too many) deliberate mistakes]
On another matter, we have a tape copy of Rev Kersh
talking and singing, and that itself is a copy of a poor original taken
on a portable tape recorder. Neville found some gadget which has turned
the tape into minidisk and from that into a CD.
These digital copies have an awful hum, although when Rev
Kersh sings his voice charms away most of it! The only way out is to
filter out (presumably 50 cycle mains hum) the background hum while re-digitising.

[Ed note: The original tape
was recorded on 31st December 1987 in Middlesbrough and on
27th August 1989 in Bournemouth. Despite
the hum, a very loud air conditioner and the occasional untimely public
address announcement, Rev Kersh's voice does indeed shine through and
affords a rare and fascinating reminder of just what a very fine voice
he had.
In technical terms, the CD recording that we have
comprises a single audio file of around 75MB, which would clearly
benefit from redigitising. Assuming that the recording can indeed be
cleaned up, there remains the question as to how this could be made
available for hearing through our website.
We would welcome your comments and assistance.].
